About Us

Dr. Björn Ratjen

Dr. Björn Ratjen is the founder of Integrated Communication and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who specializies in assisting people of all ages and walks of life through difficult life and death situations.

Drawing on his 25 years experience as a firefighter, Björn has learned practical and
effective tools and techniques that are valuable in emergency situations. He is often called
upon for critical incident debriefings, working with local authorities and victims to respond to
the needs of an emergency situation.

Björn has been actively involved in international and multi-cultural educational issues and
development throughout his professional career. As a certified teacher and experienced
facilitator,  Björn develops workshops, programs and evaluations for businesses, community
organizations and government agencies, focusing on Loss and Grief, Critical Incident Stress
Management, Psychological First Aid,  Recovery from Trauma, and Conflict Resolution.

Björn’s passion is in assisting others with self-exploration and personal growth in a group setting, where his relaxed personal style fosters open communication, sharing and opportunity.  Björn’s ability to view situations from different perspectives and respond to
an individual’s needs is a key to his success as a counsellor, teacher and group facilitator. Björn volunteers his time in the areas of community development and mental health advocacy and delivers workshops on inter–personal communication, parenting skills and special needs.

Björn holds a Certificate in Client-Centered Counselling, a Professional Teaching Certificate and is Certified Master in the Art of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).  His additional and specific education includes Advanced Critical incident Stress Management, First Responder Level 3 and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Besides English, Björn is fluent in French and German and  brings multi-cultural
experience and an often appreciated sense of humour to events.

Diana Pink’s volunteer and community involvement include working with the
Cowichan United Way for three annual fundraising campaigns, helping to raise over $1m
